Looking for an Infuse Alternative on Android?

If you like the idea of turning a NAS or a folder of videos into a movie library, you can get that kind of workflow on Android. Stream connects your existing storage, adds movie and TV artwork, and saves your playback progress on an Android phone.

This guide is published by Stream. It explains where our app fits, what you can try for free, and which requirements to check before choosing a player.

Is Infuse Available for Android?

Infuse is built for Apple's platforms: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, and Vision Pro. Its official product page lists those platforms. Android users need a different app.

There is more than one option. VidHub lists both Apple and Android versions. Stream focuses on Android phones, with an Android TV app still coming soon. Choose around the device you use and the sources you already own.

When Stream Is Worth Trying

Stream connects directly to the sources you add. You do not need to install a separate Stream server. If you choose Plex or Emby, you still need your existing media server online and reachable.

Compare the Requirements That Matter

Your requirementWhat to check
Android phone playbackStream supports Android 7.0 and later. Try your own device and files before buying Pro.
A NAS without a media serverAdd an SMB share or a WebDAV endpoint, select folders, and scan them into the library.
Plex or EmbyBoth have dedicated source options. Follow the server's sign-in and connection requirements.
OneDrive or Aliyun DriveStream has dedicated connection flows. Google Drive is used for configuration sync, not video playback.
MKV or high-resolution videoCheck the free preview and Pro limits below. Codec and HDR support depend on the device.
Android TV todayStream's TV app is coming soon and is not yet on Google Play. The phone download is not a TV release.
Jellyfin, iCloud, or Apple purchase syncStream does not currently offer those integrations. An Infuse purchase does not unlock Stream Pro.

Stream is a player for media you can already access. It does not include a catalog of movies or TV shows.

What Can You Try for Free?

On a phone, MP4 and M4V videos up to 1080p play without a time limit. Other supported containers, including MKV, MOV, AVI, FLV, and WebM, have a 5-minute preview per playback. Continuing those formats requires Stream Pro. MP4 and M4V above the free resolution limit also require Pro.

Pro also unlocks background audio. It does not add a decoder or server transcoding, so purchasing Pro cannot make an unsupported codec work on your device. RM and RMVB are not supported. See Free vs Stream Pro for the full playback rules.

Try Your Own Library First

  1. Install Stream from Google Play.
  2. Choose one source you already use. Start with the SMB / NAS setup guide or the WebDAV setup guide.
  3. Select a small folder with a clearly named movie or episode and scan it.
  4. Open the matched title and play it. Check sound, subtitles, seeking, and playback on your actual network.
  5. Return to the library and try continuing that title. For a longer free check, use an MP4 or M4V file at 1080p or lower.

If the connection works but a poster is wrong, correct the match. If playback starts and then stalls, use the buffering guide to separate network problems from playback compatibility.

Can You Move an Infuse Library Into Stream?

Stream does not provide an Infuse library import. Add the same reachable folders or servers, then let Stream build its own library. An Infuse purchase, playback history, or playlists do not transfer through this setup.

For local, SMB, and WebDAV folders, clear movie and episode filenames help Stream find the right metadata. Plex and Emby provide their own library structure and metadata.

Which Player Should You Choose?

If your main device is an iPhone, Mac, or Apple TV, use a player available on that device. If you need one product across Apple and Android, review VidHub's current platform support. If you want a personal media library on an Android phone with SMB, WebDAV, Plex, or Emby, try Stream with one of your own files first.

Platform information was checked against the official Infuse and VidHub product pages on October 22, 2026. This guide does not claim equivalent playback performance or format support across the three apps.
