Connect Plex to Stream
Connect a Plex account to browse and play media from a reachable Plex Media Server. Stream uses Plex metadata for the server's movies, shows, seasons, and episodes.
Before You Begin
- Set up a Plex Media Server and add your media libraries in Plex.
- Sign in to the Plex account that can access the server.
- Make sure the server is online and reachable from the Android device.
Sign In and Select a Server
- Open File Source in Stream.
- Choose Add File Source, then select Plex under Media Server.
- Choose Sign in with Plex.
- Complete authorization in the browser and return to Stream.
- Wait for Stream to load the Plex servers attached to the account.
- Select the Plex Media Server you want to add.
Stream tests the selected connection before saving the source. Open the saved source to browse its Plex libraries.
Supported Scope
Stream imports Plex library metadata and requests media from the selected server connection. The server and the connection advertised by Plex must be reachable from the Android device.
Common Problems
- No server is listed: Confirm the signed-in Plex account owns the server or has access to it.
- Sign-in times out: Start the sign-in again and finish browser authorization before the request expires.
- Connection failed after selecting a server: Check that the server is online and that its local or remote access address is reachable.
- A library item is missing: Refresh the Plex library first, then reopen or refresh the source in Stream.
Privacy and Authorization
Plex sign-in happens in the browser. Stream stores the authorization token returned by Plex so it can access the selected server; it does not ask for or store your Plex password. Authorization tokens are excluded from Google Drive sync data.
