How Do I Fix a Wrong Movie or TV Match?
Stream reads the video filename and searches TMDB for a movie or series. When the poster or title is wrong, correct it on the detail page, or rename the file and scan again.
Before You Begin
- The video is already in the library.
- For a rename, you can change the filename on the source that holds the file.
- Plex and Emby bring their own library metadata. Folder sources, including local folders, SMB, WebDAV, OneDrive, and Aliyun Drive, are the ones that match from the filename.
Correct the Match With Edit Metadata
- Open the movie or series detail page.
- Open the ⋮ menu and choose Edit Metadata. On the upcoming Android TV app, move to the more-options button (⋮) with the remote and choose Edit Metadata.
- The search box starts with the current title. Change it when you need a different name, then run the search.
- Pick the correct movie or series from the results. Stream keeps the same video file and replaces the match.
When you start from an episode, Stream looks up the series first, so you choose the show rather than a single episode number.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. The search sends the title to TMDB. Your video file stays in the source you configured.
Rename the File and Scan Again
Automatic matching follows the filename. Use the video file naming rules. A movie filename should start with the title and, when you know it, the year, such as Movie Title (Year).mkv. A TV file should include the show name and a season and episode marker, such as Show Name S01E01.mkv.
After you rename the file, refresh that source. In the media library, choose Refresh Source on the source, or choose Scan All. Stream searches the filename again.

When the Source Is Plex or Emby
Plex and Emby supply the library structure Stream shows. Change the title in that server when the server's own metadata is wrong, then refresh the source in Stream. Common Problems
- The search has no results: Try a shorter title, or the original title, without quality tags such as
1080p. - The same wrong title comes back after a scan: Check the filename against the naming guide, then refresh the source again.
- Only one episode looks wrong: Season and episode numbers come from the filename on folder sources.

Privacy
Filename matching and Edit Metadata send a search title to TMDB. The video file is not uploaded for that search.
